Staff Guide: This guide supports placement staff in technical access issues related to ePAD/MyProgress.
What is ePAD and how to access it
The ePAD platform is an electronic assessment system used by placement students, Practice Assessors, Academic Assessor and the Placement Team.
ePAD is a system led by the students so before a Practice Assessor can access ePAD their placement student will need to complete their Practice Assessor Allocation Form found on ePAD.
Once this has been completed, the Practice Assessor will receive an email detailing how to activate and access their ePAD account.
Technical Guidance
Below you will find some general scenario based guidance on how to fix technical issues however if you are unable to resolve it on your own, please initially contact the Placement Team.
My placement student has completed the Practice Assessor Allocation Form however I have not received an email.
Initially you should check your email’s junk/spam folder for an email from epad@soton.ac.uk in case the email has been put there. If you are unable to find the email, please confirm with your placement student what email they input in the Practice Assessor Allocation Form and ensure that no typos have been made.
I am able to login to ePAD however I cannot see my student.
As a first step, please ensure you are on University of Southampton’s ePAD. This will be identifiable by looking at the address field at the top of the page and confirm it has “soton” in it.
If you are on University of Southampton’s system, please ask your student to complete the Practice Assessor Allocation Form again. Placement students will occasionally change their Practice Assessor however only the most recent Practice Assessor will be able to view the student on ePAD.
I am trying to login with my existing account but it is saying “An account could not be found for the provided user ID”.
While we are unsure of the timescale, it appears that after a period of inactivity a Practice Assessor’s account can become de-activated. To re-activate your account, please follow these steps:
- Go to the University of Southampton’s ePAD login page.
- Select Activate your account found underneath the Sign In button.
- Type in your email and select Activate account.
- Check your inbox as well as spam/junk folder for an email from epad@soton.ac.uk
- In the email select the Verification link.
- Fill out the new password fields and select Create.
- The message “A user with the specified ID already exists. Please choose a different one” will display however it can be ignored.
- Return to the University of Southampton’s ePAD login page and attempt to login.
I have forgotten my password and would like to reset it.
You can change your password as long as you have access to the associated email account. To change your password, please follow these steps:
- Go to the University of Southampton’s ePAD login page.
- Select the Sign In button.
- Select the Forgot your password? text on the right.
- Enter your email and select Send verification code.
- Check your email for the verification code from the email sender msonlineservicesteam@microsoftonline.com
- Enter the code from the email into the Verification code field in your browser and select Verify code then select Continue.
- Enter your new password then repeat it in the second field and select Continue.
