Jisc Discover Tool is a self-assessment tool to help you track your digital capabilities. It will generate a report and suggest resources to help you build your skills. The report is anonymous- only you will have access to it.

Steps to getting started
Log in
You will need to search for “University of Southampton” and log in using your usual University credentials.
Create account
When you open the discovery tool you will need to create an account:
- Select ‘No’ to ‘Were you a discovery tool user before 1 August 2022?’.
- Confirm your role (Student/Staff).
- Select ‘Submit’.
- Add your name in the ‘First Name’ box.
- Select your course level and subject area from the drop down list.
- Select ‘HE student’ not ‘FE student’.
Privacy
The results of your questionnaires are anonymous.
Your data will be shared by Jisc in an anonymised way, enabling us to produce institutional reports with aggregated data only. Jisc will keep the information for up to a maximum of 24 months after you last logged in to the service.
You may instruct Jisc to stop processing it at any time by emailing help@jisc.ac.uk with ‘Digital capability discovery tool’ in the title.
If you are eligible and wish to obtain a digital badge, your name and email address will be shared with Credly who produce them; our contract prohibits them from using the information for anything else. To receive your badge, your personal data will be transferred outside the European Economic Area to Credly in the USA. See the Credly privacy policy. Your rights are protected under EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
