We are delighted to announce the release of our new student site for eAssignments, which will be fully operational from the 3rd of August. This revamped platform retains all the usual features, but it now comes with a more modern interface and a host of improvements, thanks to valuable feedback from students.
Key Enhancements Include:
- Enhanced User Interface: Based on student feedback, we have redesigned the entire interface to be more readable and user-friendly, ensuring a smoother navigation experience.
- Single Sign-On (SSO): Students will now experience a seamless login process, as the new platform supports SSO. If students are already logged into other platforms, such as email or Blackboard, they will be automatically authenticated into eAssignments without the need for additional login credentials.
- Highlighted Unread Feedback: Like unread emails, unread feedback will be highlighted, making it easier for students to keep track of their submissions and grades.
- Simplified Submission Process: We have addressed the previous platform’s confusing behaviours and streamlined the assignment submission process.
- Mobile Compatibility: The new eAssignments platform is fully optimised for mobile devices, allowing students to access and submit assignments on the go conveniently.
- Integration with OneDrive: Students can now submit assignments from their OneDrive cloud storage.

URL Changes:
As part of our ongoing development, we have introduced separate addresses for different roles within eAssignments:
- Student Access: submit.soton.ac.uk
- Tutor Access: mark.soton.ac.uk
- Administrative Staff Access: coordinate.soton.ac.uk
Despite these changes, the previous URL, eassignments.soton.ac.uk, and its aliases will continue functioning. The system will automatically recognise your roles and direct you to the appropriate site accordingly. In cases where individuals have multiple roles (e.g., tutor and administrative staff), a prompt will appear, allowing you to select your desired destination.
Should any issues arise or if you have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance.
Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support.
