Setting your computer up to meet your needs

Computers and browsers offer a variety of ways to meet our needs, from making text larger to reading text aloud. This short guide directs you to two useful resources.

My Computer My Way

AbilityNet’s https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/ website provides step by step guides to adjust your computer, browser or mobile device in ways that suit your needs and preferences. You can browse by adjustment (for example changing fonts), condition (for example Dyslexia), or symptom (for example Fatigue), or just use the search box.

Colour Overlays using ClaroView for Windows

Colour overlays can help reduce visual stress and some readers with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) find they can help improve reading.

ClaroView 2010 for Windows is available from the University’s Software Download web site. This simple tool allows you to set up an overlay on screen for any colour you choose.
